The World Trade Organization (WTO) set a dealine 19/01/2018 for the United States to eliminate irregularities in its anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures against products imported from China.

The decision set a 'prudent deadline' up to August 22 to apply the recommendations and resolutions by the Authority for the Settlement of Differences in the dispute 'The United States: Determined Methodologies and their Application in the Anti-Dumping Procedures that Affect China.'

In late 2013, China requested the intervention of the WTO for considering as illegal the use some methodologies and their application to anti-dumping procedures by the US authorities, something that questioned 38 measures.

In 2014, the WTO shaped a panel for ther settlement of disputes and issued its conclusions in 2016, by means of which it demanded that Washington fixed the inconsistencies in the regulations by the organization.

Although in the middle of 2017 the conflicting sides began negotiations, the dialogue did not lead to any agreement. Thus, Beijing requested from the WTO the intervention of an arbitrator with the purpose of specifying a reasonable deadline for complying with the decision.
