Vietnamese exports to Australia are still growing steadily, especially in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic affecting world trade in general.
Statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show that in January, two-way export turnover between Vietnam and Australia increased 39.92% over the same period last year, estimated at nearly US$873 million. Export turnover from Vietnam to Australia increased 62.08%, much higher than the previous month, reaching a total of nearly US$391 million.
In terms of product structure, in addition to the steady increase of commodity sales such as wood and wood products, toys, plastic products, electrical wires and cables, textiles and footwear, Vietnam's agricultural and seafood products are also gradually becoming favored items in one of the most demanding markets in the world.
In the first month of this year, Vietnam's seafood export turnover to Australia recorded an increase of 106.09% over the same period last year, while agricultural products increased by 37.16%.
Commenting on the recent export situation, the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia said that thanks to the increasingly close cooperation between the Government of Vietnam and Australia, investment and the trade relationship between enterprises of the two countries has significantly improved.
By 2020, the number of Australian businesses seeking partners in Vietnam through the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia has skyrocketed. Most businesses highly appreciate the quality of Vietnamese products, thus there is an expectation of an expansion of the market, as well as a diversification in supply.
It is expected that in the coming time, the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia will continue to organise online international exhibitions on Vietnamese goods in Australia on a national scale, including events to promote goods sources, calling for the participation of the Australian-Vietnamese Business Association and the overseas Vietnamese business community in Australia.
In addition, based on the agricultural crop situation in the country, the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia will also support the promotion of the consumption of Vietnamese agricultural products in Australia through organising trade promotional activities in association with brand building.
