The General Department (GDVC) held a meeting with members of the Editorial Team on March 25 to perfect the draft Decree on quality inspection and food safety inspection for imported goods.

Accordingly, this draft decree received a number of comments from representatives of ministries, branches, Government offices, units under the Ministry of Finance and customs departments of Hanoi, HCM City, Hai Phong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Quang Ninh, Quang Tri, Da Nang and Lang Son at the online meeting chaired by Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai on March 18.

According to the drafting board, principles of quality inspection and food safety inspection for imported goods are performed based on risk management.

The quality inspection and food safety inspection for imported goods shall comply with relevant standards and technical regulations applicable to the goods subject to inspection announced on the National Single Window.

Inspection methods are applied consistently. The change of inspection method is determined automatically by the system.

At this meeting, members of the Editorial Team discussed and commented on the draft Decree's contents such as: identical goods;source inspection; procedures for quality inspection and food safety inspection for imported goods; procedures for goods subject to both quarantine and food quality inspection, food safety inspection managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; as well as the state management responsibility for quality inspection, food safety inspection for imported goods.
