Steep U.S. duty rates on certain entries of steel nails from China were upheld, in part because the Commerce Department reasonably concluded a foreign exporter didn’t cooperate with its duty review, the U.S. Court of International Trade said Wednesday.
The U.S. maintains antidumping duties on Chinese steel nails. Commerce conducted a periodic duty review covering subject imports that entered the U.S. between August 2017 and July 2018.
The department selected three mandatory respondents for evaluation. It determined that two of the companies, Shanxi Pioneer Hardware Industrial Co. and Tianjin Universal Machinery Import & Export Corp., failed to cooperate fully with US regulations.
Dumping margins of 41.75%, 118.04% are upheld by trade court.
