Australia opens duty-free Philippines pineapple exports following final decision to discontinue the anti-dumping

The Philippines expects to resume duty-free exports of local pineapples to Australia following the final decision on October 6, 2021 by Australian Anti-Dumping Commission (ADCC) to discontinue the anti-dumping (AD) measures that were applied to consumer and food service industrial (FSI) pineapple exported by the Philippines for the last 15.

The AD measures expired on 17 October for consumer pineapple and FSI pineapple on November 13, 2021. The AD duties are equivalent to 5.9 percent for Dole Philippines and 22.9 percent for all other exporters for consumer pineapple. On the other hand, the AD duties for pineapple products for FSI is 18.7 percent.

Moreover, the ADCC determined that the expiration of said measures will not lead to a continuation or recurrence of dumping and to material injury that these measures are intended to prevent.

In 2020, Australia was the Philippines’ 15th largest trading partner, 20th export market, and 15th import source. Total bilateral trade was valued at $1.17 billion.
