The Government will be terminating the anti-dumping duty on imports of hot rolled coils originating in, or exported, from China and Indonesia effective Feb 9, 2019.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) said the anti-dumping duty was no longer necessary as its investigation found that there was no domestic industry in Malaysia producing the like product that would suffer material injury that could be reasonably linked to the importation of these coils.

In a statement today, the Ministry said the investigation was initiated in accordance with the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 and Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Regulations 1994 on Aug 14, 2018 based on a petition filed by PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) TBK (Indonesia) on behalf of the interested parties.

“Interested parties (importers, foreign producers/exporters and associations related to the investigation) can have access to the non-confidential version of the public report on the final determination by submitting a written request to MITI,” it added.
