Japan to retain anti-dumping duties

Japan says it will retain a range of anti-dumping duties on carbon steel parts from China and South Korea.
Government officials add the measures will stay in place for 5 years.
The officials say local manufacturers of carbon steel pipe fittings are suffering. They blame Chinese and South Korean imports priced below fair market value.
The government introduced the anti-dumping duties of 69.2 percent on a provisional basis in December.
Officials say they have now decided to retain them because companies in the 2 countries continue to engage in unfair trade practices.
3 small and medium-sized Japanese firms called on the government last year to act. Cabinet members are expected to approve the duties soon.
