Bed rooms’ furniture remains its leading position in Vietnamese exports

According to the official statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the exporting turnover of bed rooms’ furniture in June reached 52.4 million US dollars, increased by 48.4% in the comparison with that of June 2006, which boosted the total exporting turnover of this kind of furniture in the first six months of 2007 to 276 million US dollars, increased by 27.4% year on year. The exporting turnover of bed rooms’ furniture accounts for 23.6% the total exporting turnover of wooden products. In general, in the first seven months, the export of bed rooms’ furniture is estimated to reach 332 million US dollars, increased 29.4% year on year.
 
Generally, the average unit price of bed rooms’ furniture exported to U.S, E.U, and Japan is higher than other markets because Vietnamese enterprises pay their attention to high-grade products such as products made from oak, acassia aneura, and teak wood, or classic products like King, Sleigh Queen and Slei-Cal beds which are unique in design and distinct in style.

The U.S continues to be the biggest importer of Vietnam with the exporting turnover in the first six months reached 39.24 million US dollars and accounted for 75% total exporting turnover of bed rooms’ furniture of the country. The second biggest importer is England, whose exporting turnover in the first six months gained 3.8 million US dollars, accounted for 7.3% of the total exporting turnover. There are other markets such as Japan, Canada, China, Australia, Iran, etc. with the exporting turnover relatively reached 2.55 million US dollars, 1.34 million US dollars, 1.28 million US dollars, 1.14 million US dollars, and 526 thousand US dollars.
