Argentina to resume soybean export to Asian markets

The Argentina government highly appreciated the recent decision made by Indian government which allow Argentina to resume their export of soybean oil to Indian market. The removal of ban was decided after investigation results showed that oil made from genetic soybean poses no threat to human health and environment.
Argentina is the world largest producer and exporter of soybean with an annual soybean export turnover to India market of $700 million through temporary export license.
In late July 2007, the Korean Trade Commission announced their ruling confirming that soybean oil from Argentina was not dumped into this market. Prior to that, Korea had initiate anti dumping investigation on Argentina, US and Brazil on October 20, 2006 after products from these countries were accused of being dumped into Korea during the period from June 2005 to July 2006 by two domestic companies.
Korea is among 70 soybean importing countries from Argentina, which consume about 200,000 tonnes every year, worth $100 million. It also accounted for 4% of soybean export turnover of Argentina,
