Another Chinese seafood producer not allowed to export to Korea

Another Chinese seafood producer is prohibited from exporting into Korea market due the existence of banned antibiotic, thus increased number of prohibited firms to 34.

According to Korean Ministry of Marine and Fishing, they have detected enrofloxacine and ciprofloxacine chemical substances in export products from an unanimous exporter. This information was immediately reported to domestic importers and custom agency.

These two chemical substances have been tested by US Food and Drug Association and proved to do harm to human. Lately, US also ban all China sourced seafood with these chemical residues. All exports consignment shipped to US, therefore, were rejected or destroyed.

Korea started their investigation after FDA announced the existence of such chemical substances in China sourced catfish, shrimp and eels.

As stated in the bilateral agreement between Korea and China, Korea can impose ban order on seafood exports that infected with harmful substances. This ban is only removed when China can prove their seafood exports free from such chemicals.

Previously, Korea also faced similar situation with China seafood export when management authorities identified eels consignment from China infected with harmful substances.
