The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced preliminary antidumping duty levels applied for Vietnamese shrimp during the 13th review period (POR13), under which 31 Vietnamese firms can enjoy a 0% antidumping tax rate, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said on April 10.

The DOC has preliminarily concluded that the frozen warm water shrimp products of the two mandatory defendants, Sao Ta Foods JSC (Fimex VN) and Nha Trang Seaproduct Company, did not dump the US market in the period from February 1, 2017, to January 31, 2018. Therefore, the preliminary tax for the two companies is 0%.

Twenty-nine other Vietnamese companies that applied for different tax rates or pledged no shipments to the US within the aforementioned period will also enjoy a 0% tax rate.

This preliminary tax rate is a solid foundation for Vietnamese firms to achieve the lowest possible tax rate in the final DOC decision. This is good news for Vietnamese enterprises and will help their business to further thrive in the US market.

Previously, the DOC imposed a 4.58% antidumping tariff on Vietnamese shrimp exported to the US according to the results of POR12 from February 1, 2016, to January 31, 2017.
